Key Highlights

  • Co-WIN app is yet to be made available for everyone in India
  • It will have five modules that will help vaccinators, administrators and people who will get these vaccine shots

As the coronavirus vaccine is being developed by various manufacturers in India, the Union Health Ministry has announced a digital platform called ‘Co-WIN’ to monitor the entire vaccination process and enable people to register themselves for the vaccination. A free mobile app will also be soon made available with the same name in the country.

While speaking at a press conference, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said, “The digital platform Co-WIN application and Dashboard will help monitor the entire vaccination process. The platform includes a free downloadable mobile application which can help record vaccine data. One can register themselves on it if they want the vaccine.”

This Co-WIN app will have 5 modules that will help vaccinators, administrators and people who will get these vaccine shots. These modules would include administrator module, registration module, vaccination module, beneficiary acknowledgement module and report module.

The administrator module will help administrators in conducting vaccination sessions.

The Registration module will make it easy for people to get registered themselves for vaccination and will upload bulk data on co-morbidity provided by local authorities or by surveyors.

The Vaccination module will check beneficiary details and update vaccination status while the Report module will prepare reports on how many vaccine sessions have been conducted, how many people have attended those, and how many people have dropped out.

Lastly, the beneficiary acknowledgement module will send SMS to beneficiaries and generate QR based certificates after one gets vaccinated.
