Winner of largest Washington Lotto jackpot in a decade comes forward

The winner of the largest Washington state lottery jackpot in a decade has come forward, according to lottery officials.

Someone bought the winning $12.2 million Lotto ticket at a grocery store in Brier on July 3.

Lottery officials said the winner wants to remain anonymous.

“We’re shocked, this is an unbelievable experience.” The winner went on to share, “I saw the Lotto jackpot was getting bigger and bigger. Sometimes I ask my husband to buy tickets for me, if I’m unable to go out. We know the store owner, and they told my husband his luck is different from my luck. My husband said ‘it’s better that you get it, so if you are destined to win, then it’s you and not me, I’m just going to ruin it for you.’”

The owners of Brier Grocery didn’t say much but told KIRO 7’s Dave Wager that the winner came forward.

Next door, Linda Weber at Jason’s Java said she knew the winner.

“She came in and said, ‘I’m the one,'” Weber said.

Daniel Economides, a chef at Brier Pizza, believes he was standing directly behind the winner when she purchased the ticket.

“I was the next one in line,” Economides said.
