About the Oregon Basketball

Oregon Basketball Tickets

If you put together a list of the best West Coast basketball programs in NCAA history, you probably won’t find the Oregon Ducks. For decades, the Ducks were an afterthought, even in their own conference, and cheap Oregon basketball tickets were plentiful. However, that’s not the case anymore. The program has come alive in the 21st century and is now a regular in the NCAA Tournament. Nowadays, getting last-minute Oregon basketball tickets is a treat for fans because the Ducks got game – and they know how to put on a good show.

The One and Only

While the Ducks don’t have much history on the basketball court, they had a brief run during the 1930s and 40s under head coach Howard Hobson. Under Hobson, Oregon put together four consecutive seasons with at least 20 wins, culminating in a 29-5 record during the 1938-39 season in which the Ducks won the national championship. However, for the rest of the century, any success for the Ducks on the basketball court would be sporadic.

Flying Home

After decades of subpar play, Ernie Kent was the coach who started to turn Oregon basketball around. Between 2000 and 2008, Kent took the Ducks to the NCAA Tournament five times. That stretch included a Pac-12 title, and Elite Eight run in 2002. Kent’s tenure eventually ended with three straight poor seasons. But Dana Altman took the reins in 2010 and officially put Oregon basketball on the map. Under Altman, the Ducks reached the Elite Eight in 2016 and got back to the Final Four in 2017 for the second time in school history. Oregon also won three Pac-12 regular-season titles in a five-year span beginning in 2016, establishing itself as one of the top programs on the West Coast.

Oregon vs Utah Men’s Basketball

Great view of the court, the view we were shown on the app was exactly what our view was. We enjoyed it so much we bought tickets for the Civil War! Go Ducks!

Matthew Knight Arena – Eugene

It was an awesome game. Great effort by our Duck Men’s team to clamp down on defense to shut down the Buffaloes and at the same time drop their shots and come from behind to win the game.

Great seats, great venue, great team

Matthew Knight Arena – Eugene

Matt Court is a great place to watch Ducks basketball. Our seats were great, the free shuttle from Autzen Stadium worked well, and the Ducks played great (first half anyway; coasted in the second).

More info would have helped

Matthew Knight Arena – Eugene

Great event and staff. When I purchased the tickets (and I went back and looked), it said nowhere that purses aren’t allowed . causing me a long walk in the rain back to the car to drop off my girlfriend’s purse. Admission folks were very helpful. I politely complained and none of us could find a notice about purses. It’s a small thing for me, but for some it could have been a real hardship.

Best birthday gift ever!!

Ticketmaster is the best

Matthew Knight Arena – Eugene

I love the follow through! Ticketmaster is the ONLY place I would ever consider getting tickets. I live in a small area and don’t have access to big events like others living in more populated areas of the state. Ticketmaster has great follow through and the tickets are great. Thanks Ticketmaster for your promptness and making me feel at ease with my purchase. I WILL order from Ticketmaster again.

Oregon Ducks at Matthew Knight Arena

The Oregon Ducks are a sight to behold, and not just because of their trademark Day-Glo uniforms and trippy court. Under coach Dana Altman, the Ducks have developed a rep for playing a lively, fluid brand of positionless basketball, full of back cuts and sharp little passes. Year after year, the defense is a rock, with recent editions protecting the rim better than just about any team in the country.

The Ducks’ eccentric bent extends to the very floor they play on at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene. Designed by Nike legend Tinker Hatfield, Kilkenny Floor is intended to evoke the experience of looking up from a forest floor and glimpsing a bit of sky through the tree branches. The arena, which opened its doors in 2011, cost $227 million to build, making it the most expensive on-campus stadium in the United States (it was financed through state-backed bonds). Oregon is also known for its teams’ glow-in-the-dark electric-green uniforms, which will come in handy if the arena ever loses power. The overall effect is of a sports program that leans fully into its eccentricity.

Oregon Ducks Men’s Basketball History

Oregon basketball has long possessed a certain experimental spirit. There were the so-called Tall Firs, the nickname hung on the 1938-39 team that won the NCAA’s first-ever national championship, though there was a lot more to that Oregon bunch than height. Coach Howard Hobson liked to run fast breaks at a time when few teams played uptempo basketball, and his defenses were unorthodox hybrids. There were the Kamikaze Kids of the Dick Harter era, known for their swarming style of play. And today, you can’t argue with coach Altman’s results: Since he arrived in 2010-11, Altman has put up 20-win season after 20-win season, including a berth in the 2017 Final Four.
