The Mega Millions jackpot drawing on Tuesday night was worth $245 million with a cash option of $148.3 million. Did anyone get lucky enough to win the million dollar jackpot?
Mega Millions latest drawing was held on Tuesday at 11 p.m. EST. The winning numbers for the drawing were 10-12-14-24-60, Mega Ball 20, and Megaplier 3X, according to the Mega Millions website. Although no one won the jackpot, there were three Match 5 winners who won one million dollars from California, New York, and Pennsylvania, the lottery website states. There were also 18 other winners who won $10,000 after matching four of the winning numbers and the Mega Ball.
The next Mega Millions drawing will be on Friday at 11 p.m. EST, according to the Mega Millions website. The jackpot is now worth $267 million with a cash option of $161.7 million.
The lottery game only costs $2 to play, according to the Mega Millions website. Mega Millions is played when players choose five numbers ranging from one through 70, and then a sixth number from one through 25 for the Mega Ball, the lottery website states. The lottery has drawings twice a week on Tuesday and Friday nights.
The last person to claim a Mega Millions prize is a man from Grand Ledge, Michigan. David Klemish, 53, matched five of the white balls drawn during Friday’s drawing and won one million dollars, according to a press release from the Michigan Lottery.
Klemish told lottery officials he stopped at a Shell gas station in Grand Ledge and purchased two tickets but decided to buy two more.
“I stopped at the Shell station on Thursday night to buy my normal two Mega Millions tickets,” Klemish told lottery officials. “On Friday morning I was back at the Shell, and thought: ‘What the heck? I’ll buy two more.’
The 53-year-old said he checked Facebook the following morning and learned that someone had purchased the winning ticket at the Shell gas station. He checked his tickets from Thursday, which wasn’t a winner, but then checked his tickets from Friday to discover he had won.
“I called for my wife to come double check what I was seeing. Neither of us could believe our eyes!” Klemish told lottery officials.
Klemish claimed his prize at the Lottery headquarters in Michigan on Monday. He told lottery officials that he will spend his winnings on paying off bills, taking his wife on an anniversary trip for their 25th anniversary, and saving the rest.
“This is all so surreal. It will allow us to live more comfortably and ease our minds knowing that we have this to fall back on,” Klemish told lottery officials.
