CHICAGO, IL — The Illinois Lottery claim center located in the James R. Thompson Center (JRTC) at 100 W. Randolph Street in Chicago closed Monday and will be closed until further notice, a news release from the Illinois Lottery said. The closure of the claim center is in response to recent public health concerns due to the coronavirus, according to the news release. The Illinois Lottery’s remaining four claim centers located in Des Plaines, Rockford, Springfield, and Fairview Heights will remain open at this time, according to the Illinois Lottery.
Winning players are encouraged to visit one of those locations or mail in their claim, and if your claim is $600 or less, you can still visit one of the Lottery’s 7,200 retail locations statewide, according to the news release.

“We understand how important it is for our players to claim and receive their winnings in the most expeditious way possible, but we also want to be sure we are responding appropriately to help address public health concerns related to COVID-19,” Harold Mays, Acting Director of the Illinois Lottery said, in the news release.
The Illinois Lottery suggests that players who feel sick or those with a weakened immune system refrain from visiting an Illinois Lottery claim center, consider visiting at a later date or mail in their claim, the news release said, as winning tickets can be claimed for up to a year after purchase.
The Illinois Lottery said it will continue to work closely with the Governor’s Office and the Illinois Department of Public Health to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will respond accordingly as new developments come to light. The Lottery recommends that players visit http://www.IllinoisLottery.com/winning for up-to-date information on Lottery claim center status. Information on COVID-19 is available from the Illinois Department of Public Health at dph.illinois.gov/.
