CLOSED FOR THE 2020 SEASON. Reopening in February/March 2021.
With full hearts, much gratitude, and precious memories, we thank you for an unforgettable and incredible 2020 season
At the end of each season, we reflect on our many blessings and the successes and challenges of the season, and I think we all can agree that this year has been a year like no other. Like many businesses, we were forced to adapt and adjust at the onset of COVID in order to keep our doors open. We were blessed that we could pivot quickly to meet the needs of our community and we’re grateful for you, our loyal guests and friends, who continued to supported us throughout the whole season.
This year has shown and taught us many things: count our blessings, be thankful for the little things; and to not take anything for granted. We were blessed this year with plentiful harvests of blueberries, blackberries, peaches, and apples; new and old guests who joined us to create precious memories; and new Orchard offerings that we’ll keep for years to come.
As we head into our winter months, many may wonder what we do in the time that the Orchard is closed. While we do enjoy a little rest and relaxation, time with family and friends, and good meals, we’re busy planning for our 2021 season. We’re excited to continue learning and growing through our virtual conferences and networking opportunities. We’ll be pruning, planting, and caring for our fruit trees so that our future crops are abundant and delicious. And we’ll continue to brainstorm how we can make your experiences even better, so please email or message us with your thoughts!
Thank you for your outpouring of love and support this season as we navigated the unknown and worked hard to provide you with a place where you felt safe and always welcomed. We are continuously blessed with the very best staff and guests who continue to support us and share their families and memories with us year and after year. Please enjoy our end of season video below that features a few of your sweet memories made this year. Also, be sure to check out our website at the end of January for exciting things coming in 2021 and our 2021 opening date.
We hope you have a very happy and healthy new year and many special times with your loved ones. We look forward to seeing you all soon for a brand new year of Orchard traditions, memories, and adventures.
With lots of love & many thanks, Beverly, Nick & our entire Orchard family

“Pick Your Own” Apple Orchards in North Carolina
Picking Your Own Apples in the Charlotte Area and Beyond

For many people, fall means that it’s apple picking season in North Carolina. Whether you’re picking a batch of apple pies, making homemade applesauce or apple butter, or just as a healthy snack, there’s nothing like a basket of fresh apples from the Carolinas.
If you’re looking to get the absolute freshest apples possible, you’re in luck in North Carolina because there are plenty of farms and orchards that let you pick your own straight from the tree.
Apple picking season is usually sometime from early June to early December, so start checking towards the middle to end of May to see out when your favorite farm is opening. Almost all of the farms on this list are going to be in the North Carolina mountains area.
I’ve listed just a few apple picking farms below. The list is broken down into Western North Carolina, the North Carolina coastal region, and the Charlotte area – the Piedmont or central region. For each area, about six farms are listed, with a link to a complete database to find more. What you’ll find listed on this page is nowhere near a comprehensive list, nor am I saying that these are the “best” ones. It’s just a sampling of some of what we have to offer. I did try to include farms from different areas of each region.
Most of these sites do offer other fresh fruits and vegetables, and several even have other “pick your own” foods. But for each of these spots, you can pick your own strawberries.
